Mile sur mera tumhara VS Phir mile sur mera tumhara

The National Integration music video "mile sur mera tumhara" first developed in the year 1988, intended to instill a sense of pride and promote unity amongst Indians, highlighting the different linguistic communities and societies that live in India was once again redone as "phir mile sur mera tumhara", after 22 years,and released on our 60th republic day. Both the videos have their own uniqueness though they mean the same. But according to me some parts in the song can be made a li'l better than what is shown. Let me first compare both the music videos

Mile sur mera tumhara . . .

The song starts picturing the sun rise,sea shore and water falls while Pandit Bhimsen Joshi sings the first verses मिले सुर मेरा तुम्हारा, तो सुर बने हमारा| सुर की नदियाँ हर दिशा से, बहते सागर में मिलें बादलों का रूप लेकर, बरसे हलके हलके| मिले सुर मेरा तुम्हारा, तो सुर बने हमारामिले सुर मेरा तुम्हारा| by the side of a water falls.
A group of kashmiris are shown having tea together and a scenic view of the sun set by a river,where a man rowing a kashmiri boat sings, चॉन्य् तरज़ तय म्यॉन्य् तरज़, इक॒वट॒ बनि यि सॉन्य् तरज़ (Chaain taraz tai myain taraz, ik watt baniye saayen taraz).
A punjabi family going on a tractor passing by a beautiful agricultural field, where a lady sings, ਤੇਰਾ ਸੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਮਿਲਕੇ ਬਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਸੁਰ ਤਾਲ (tērā sur milē mērē sur dē nāl, milkē baṇē ikk navān̐ sur tāl).

Then going to the down south,starting with tamil,shown are actors like K.R.Vijaya, Revathi , Kamal Hassan and Dr. Balamuralikrishna sing, இசைந்தால் நம் இருவரின் ஸ்வரமும் நமதாகும் திசை வேறானாலும் ஆழி சேர் ஆறுகள் முகிலாய் மழையாய் பொழிவது போல் இசை நம் இசை (Isaindhal namm iruvarin suramum namadhakum Dhisai veru aanalum aazi ser aarugal Mugilai mazaiyai pozivadu pol isai Nam isai) followed by carnatic in the background,showing a herd of elephants.
Prakash padukone, ramanathan krishnan and two others sing in kannada ನನ್ನ ಧ್ವನಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಧ್ವನಿಯ, ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿಯ (nanna dhvanige ninna dhvaniya, sēridante namma dhvaniya).

Mallika Sarabhai sings in Gujarathi મળે સૂર જો તારો મારો, બને આપણો સૂર નિરાળો (maḷē sur jō tārō mārō, banē āpṇō sur nirāḷō). Shown is the River Ganges.

Actress Tanuja sings in Marathi, माझ्या तुमच्या जुळता तारा, मधुर सुरांच्या बरसती धारा (mājhyā tumchyā juḷtā tārā, madhur surānchyā barastī dhārā) as some fisherwomen walk behind her.

Actress Wahida Rehman, Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore and Lata mangeshkar(Who has given the female voice in the song) are shown singing the Hindi lines 'mile sur...' followed by Amitabh bachchan,Mithun Chakraborthy and Jeetendra sing in chorus

The music video ends with all the artists shown in the from the start forming the India map shown aerially,followed by many children dressed in the tri coloured costume come together forming the India Flag. Duration : 6min 9sec.

The song starts with a scene of the waves of a sea, cranes during sunset. A.R. Rehman shown playing the tune on the continuum fingerboard.

Now,the new version is 3 times longer than the original one but where are the famous citizens other than those from the film industries? There was None of those entrepreneurs,the cricketers,our beloved politicians,scientists?
There was no Ratan Tata nor Abdul Kalam nor our Sachin Tendulkar or Leander Peas. They haven't even featured any of those classical dances other than the barathanatyam.
None of the veteran actors were too featured other than Big B ... Dev Anand,Rishi kapoor.. none of them..
They could have featured the famous journalists like Pranoy Roy or Rajeep Sardesai too.

My overall rating for the new version would be 3.5 out of 5 while the original of course gets a 4.5
I liked the first one better.
