An art so rich

As a kid I was always inspired by the old Indian temple art and architecture. Of all what fascinated me was the Tanjore paintings which has always been a possessed thing by any very well to do - rich family. (Maybe not, I feel so just for the way 'these' people talk about having given such a high price for a painting) whatever it may be.
I was so amazed for the clean and detailed workmanship of these paintings. The stone studded jewelries , the gold work, the highlights and shading of the gods face.it had always been one form of art I ever wanted to learn.
Since I am a right brained person, I have always showed my creativity in whatsoever.
Like paper art, art from scrap, painting, embroidery, poetry, music; I always ended up giving an art attack to everybody at home. ;)
Finally when I was good enough at them, I decided to learn the art I always wanted to.
I learnt it and ended up with this.

Change!

Change is the only constant!

That is one famous phrase i have always used, from the time I had ever heard/read it somewhere. But how easy is it to adapt to the change?

Till this moment I always thought it was something very easy to do as long as one foresees the future situation, makes up his /her mind about frequency as to how much it would impact himself/herself personally. But is it that easy?
But now the point is, how good is the person good enough at making this judgement? Until he starts to experience the situation.

On having been a person who has always loved interactions with different kind of people in the different places you get to meet them, it is really hard to not socialize in the usual way as before. Likewise, it is even more difficult to force someone to talk to you when you want them to. Or to talk to them when you are in a least interested mood.

Now that would have sounded weird. But, how easy is it for someone who has been a big time socialite, atleast among the people around him/her, not to be in the limelight for days?

It is as bad as. Late. Benazir butto's who had been on self exile for nine years or Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma having been house arrested for 15 years or..  Why not?   Like the versatile actor Kamal Hassan, who was blamed for his movie viswaroopam, which has been one indian movie of good standards than the usual ones with a routine story line of the same genre any indian film of any regional language has taken. With an utter waste of four or five songs with a bit of annoying hip shaking dance which could be better shown.

But I guess it isn't as bad or hard neither, for a socialite to be speak less. Perhaps, its always better to be less interactive than to give space for others to play a game called politics.

Kakaji was 'my Superstar's' favorite!

His hairstyle.. His romantic movies, death scenes or his dialogues , no matter what it may be, he was the hearthrobe for all his fans -  Rajesh Khanna, the first superstar of Indian cinema who had won many women's hearts for all his romantic movies, is one of my favorites too. Though it is just a handful of old Hindi classics that I listen to,Kakajis songs have always been at the top of the list.. Gulabi aankein.. , Mere sapno ki rani, Gun guna rahi hai bawarein., Oh mere dil k chain.., Zindagi ka safar.. are few among them.

I have gained the interest in Hindi film songs from my Dad, who has always enjoyed listening to songs from the 60's and 70's. Those evergreen songs which cannot be compared to the present day remixes; and which is always pleasant to hear. I am glad my Dad has made a pretty decent collection of song cassettes listening to which, i have grown and learnt many songs. As a fact, i have never lost an antakshari competition till date, 'being a Tamilian', which many of my North Indian friends are surprised of (all credits to my Mom and Dad, who have always encouraged me to participate in many singing competitions).
Many people have complimented me for my singing, i believe its my Dad's genes that i've got. During his schooling and college, Dad has also been a talented person, singing, mimicry, jokes and the list of hobbies
(philatelist, numismatist etc). when it comes to mimicry, i like the way he imitates the veteran actors like Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna.

Rajesh Khanna's songs have all been my Dad's favourite. I still remember those days back as a kid when i used to play a game of antakshari with dad and he would sing his all time favorite song to my Mom, 'Oo mere dil k chain...' from Mere jeevan saathi ,beautiful indeed.

Like others, Dad was also very fond of movies in his college days. Surprisingly, even now he remembers the movies as good as recently watched, the theater where he had seen them and with whom. Kakaji being one of his favorite stars,he has watched every movie of his.

A great loss indeed, but Rajesh Khanna has made a wonderful contribution to the Indian cinema and he still continues to live in our hearts through his songs and dialogues. Cheers to the legend.

May his soul Rest in Peace.

I realise it when seen for myself, than being told.

I recently quit my job to spend more time with my family,as i am soon to be married and fly to the US. Having done that, these days I more often end up into an argument with mom. The more advices she gives me about marriage, work, my behavior or just about anything with which I could get a better understanding over many things to go about with, in life after marriage; I at times listen to her in my subconscious mind and give a quick 'ok!' , Or just tell her it wouldn't be a problem for me,and I would manage.
One such advice or rather a caution she gave me recently was not to have mood swings which would only make things worse for me. I as usual asked her not to worry so much about me,and I would not take any situation with my spouse to that extent and make it a bad experience to both of us.
Today, when I was browsing over the net,I came across few articles by Dr. Shantanu Nagarkatti, a Mumbai based renowned Surgeon and also known for his spiritual teachings.
Here is a link, an intreview of his taken by Ms Simran Bhargava who hosts the show 'one life to love' on NDTV Good times
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwMSObBU1jo

His insightful film, "Who the hell thought of this idea called marriage"  shows the lives of two married young couples, and how they cope up with their marital issues. Having seen the movie, though it scared me a li'l, I actually realise how things could change over few years after marriage and even a silly issue can lead to a big destruction in the relationship.
Having realised, now my mom's words of concern shall definitely help me to prepare for the future.Nevertheless, each one of us will not know what lies ahead of us until we hit the waves of life at sea.

Girls,Guys,Gossip.

What happens when a girl(s) gossip?

She would set the ball rolling.

What happens when a guy gossips?

The rolling ball would not just catch fire but also gain momentum, till it turns into ash.

Love you Maa - Sorry!

Sometimes I use harsh words at mom when I'm forced on some things. It is not that I am angry at her, but I want her to realize this cannot continue forever.
There would come a day wherein, I will meet...

...and even live with new people.

It would be a new path in my journey of life.
It would bring in new commitments, priorities, and when life would get more complicated. "And, when you say/ask for some things with the same old expectations from me, I may not reply in the same old immature manner.
If i am unable to do/give you what you asked for,I would rather stay silent, or may be not respond back on some busy situations which may hurt you more, than it would hurt me.

I will have many thoughts about you, Dad and Bro ( our good old happy family)dwelling in my mind and heart, out of the utmost concern i have upon you all; but i may not be able to express everything to you as i atleast do now..

I may feel it would unnecessarily disturb you, or may be hurt you, or it may even seem not to be of importance to you.

Whatsoever mom, i want you to realize one thing that you will always remain my greatest inspiration and the strongest support i have ever gained emotionally, morally and rationally.

I am sorry for all the harshness in my words to you, for all those endless arguments i had with you.
I'm sorry for all the fuss i create not to have the delicious food you make for me amidst the chores.
I'm sorry to make you panic everytime i go out and never inform you of the delay in reaching home.

These words of 'sorries' are never enough for all the mischief i have done, and nor are my 'thanks yous' through mere words gonna compensate all the lovely and only lovely things you give/do for me throughout.

One deep musing. Hoping you to read this someday, Mom.

Love, Archan.

Musings-I

'Life is a lesson,we learn it when we are through'. So true, for all the experiences it gives time to time. The happy ones make us remember the bygone days and the sad ones ,make us feel imprudent, the more older we get.

*Never allow somebody to be your priority when in fact you're just an option for them.

*
It just feels so good to fall in love but be sure you're ready to shed tears because most of the times, it hurts.Cowardly manner it may seem, but for sometimes, no matter how much you love someone,it is still wiser not to have that person back again..

* There is no falling out of love. The person you love(d) changes so much that you can't find them any more.

*
Bad mouthing about anything that you never experienced may one day happen to you when you'll have to contradict yourself.

*
Well-timed silence is better than an over-timed argument.

*
Every experience is good for life, the good ones are cherished. There will be a time when you would cherish the bad ones even more,as it will get you to something ever better than what you deserve.

* Happiness is like a butterfly, you try chasing it,the more it eludes you.
